Think Outside The Quilt
When we talk of patchwork and quilting we always think of patchwork quilts but there are many other things to make with patchwork. I know patchwork should be fun and to most people it is the fun of creating which drives us on.
Why not try some patchwork clothing? Patchwork waistcoats can be quilted and embellished with luxurious threads and beads. Extending this idea - a longer length waistcoat could be incredible. Bags are wonderful when heavily embellished.
There is nothing stopping you making shirts, shorts etc. with just the patchwork part of the operation. Take a standard purchased garment pattern or, if you are very clever, make your own or take it off a favourite garment. Make sections of patchwork large enough to accommodate each pattern piece needed for the garment and then treat it as a normal piece of fabric.
Tip - be sure to secure the cut seams between the patches or your garment will not be very strong!
