You can quilt a patchwork by hand or machine. These are two totally different techniques
and both have their own merits.
With machine quilting the progress is obviously faster and a good firm stitch will hold
the layers together securely.
With hand quilting it is easier to execute more decorative patterns and many people find
it very therapeutic to sit and stitch away on a small section of the quilt. It obviously
takes a lot longer to hand stitch a quilt but the results can be magnificent.
